About Beautiful Magic on God's Earth
Beautiful Magic on God’s Earth (working title) is set in two parallel versions of Earth – one with a synthetic overlay, in which humans have forgotten their roots, their communities and their connection with the natural world and the other in which all those things are honoured and the innate, natural magic in humans is in constant in use.
In the synthetic world, we meet Nina, a creative, free-spirited girl who is quashed by the programming and almost destroyed by the illusion and pretence that holds the overlay in place. In the natural world, we meet a shamanic storyteller who serves her village with her medicine of communication and performance. She has another job too – to assist the souls who have disconnected from their human bodies in the synthetic world to become reunited with them and then move into the natural world.
Currently, Rosalind is working with Babel Theatre and Ephemeral Ensemble in the devising stages for this piece. She has also received support and mentorship from Cheryl Prince of 5D Theatre.
Beautiful Magic blends storytelling, dance, live music and physical, ensemble theatre.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH: A vital part of the mission of this theatre project is to give audiences an embodied experience of community dance, song and connection with the land. More information on workshops can be found here: Workshops
